Soul warming winter sun, bittersweet coffee and ch Soul warming winter sun, bittersweet coffee and chocolate muffins by @freshattbd ... This book club meeting was all about the Delhi winter, with the theme of the month being “cozy winter evenings”.
Our book of the month was “The Interpreter of Maladies” by Jhumpa Lahiri. Rarely does one come across such vivid descriptions, simple yet writhing with the most difficult emotions. Jhumpa manages to conjure the most heartbreaking moments leaving the reader with a lingering aftertaste.

Our second selection was “Till the Coffee gets Cold” by Toshikazu Kawaguchi”. Another heartwarming sweet and simple story, perfect for a cozy winter read.

“The BOOK EXCHANGE” was the main highlight of the meeting with all members bringing one book and getting one in exchange to take back home. After much drama and squeals of excitement, everyone settled down happily with the latest additions to their bookshelves!

The day finally ended with a lazy stroll to the India Habitat Center for a peek at their weekend art selection.

We would love to invite all new members to our tiny circle of book lovers. Don’t forget to visit the link in bio to register and join us for our next!

SUPER EXCITED to conclude our very first book club SUPER EXCITED to conclude our very first book club meeting.
The day was spent at the picturesque Lodhi Gardens.

The theme: Indian writers was very dear to us. South Asian literature often has a hard time getting the love and attention it deserves. This was our humble attempt at a tribute to the great writing tradition of India. We took out the time to discuss the classic favourites including Premchand, Tagore, Ruskin Bond, Mahadevi Verma and Dinkar.

One meeting was definitely not enough for this diverse theme! Our members recounted the fond memories of the books and writers they grew up reading, including themes as diverse as Sudha Murthy, the Mahabharata and even Chetan Bhagat.

While we could not even scratch the surface of the immense diversity of languages, stories and culture that Indian literature provides, the meeting was warm, wholesome and an attempt for everyone to explore outside their comfort zones.

Our book club is an attempt to bring together a group of like minded people who share a passion for reading, or just anyone who wants to explore the world of books. We strive to make this a space that is open, inclusive and not specific to any particular language. We’re a motley group just looking to have fun!
