CONCLUSION

The journey of these ten erudite days was a memorable one throughout which all of us have given and taken a lot of things in the form of teaching and learning from the students. The task of managing the interns and the students was both challenging and enlightening.

Here are some of the observations of the interns:

  • 90% of the parents are ignorant of their child’s education, which is quite evident from the turn up at the PTM.
  • No Fail Policy is doing more harm than good to the students, since they know they won’t be detained and hence do not put sweat, blood and tear in their studies.

  • Students of Shushumandir, Kimghari are well versed in almost everything we tried to teach them.
  • Negligence of some teachers in not putting extra efforts for special need students is another reason that some of the class 8th students can’t even read or write.

In the next session, we can take up more activities and touch different issues and topics. Few examples are menstruation session, Yoga Session, Cleanliness Drive and the like. Moreover, we can also extend the topics that have already been covered in this session like Vedic Maths, Superstitions and working of a Laptop. This time, the initiative of Parents Teacher Meeting was not very successful therefore next time, PTM should be included in the main agenda. Lastly, since the students of Shushumandir are very bright, they should be dealt separately and a little higher level activities should be planned for them.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience and up to some extent, we were successful in building confidence among the students.
