Kitaab speaks with ‘Kudrat Dutta Chaudhary’ about her debut novel and experiences while writing it.
Kudrat:
‘LAIZA- Sometimes the End is only a beginning’ is a fiction novel based in real-time, expressing all the emotions and dilemmas on a wide spectrum of feelings.
It is deep, engaging and intriguing. Laiza represents the plight of a million women who may fall, get injured, but never back down. It is a story that would introduce the world to the dark side of disasters; it’s a story that would inspire every reader to fight in life, no matter what. It’s a story that needs to be heard.
Everyone around the world needs to read, the story of a girl whose entire life came crashing down almost a year back. My story is fresh, simple and heart touching. The main themes of the book are feminism, hope, human trafficking, Indo-Nepal relations and self discovery.
I’ve been meaning to write since the age of 15 years, but every time I wrote something, I always had a voice telling me that it wasn’t good enough. Gradually, I shifted writing a book before college ends, onto my bucket list.
It is last year while I was talking a walk, that the entire story dawned upon me.
I started writing and adding flesh to the skeleton story that I had, and it took me about a year to do the same. The main themes of the book are the ones, which I as an individual very strongly feel about. I am a keen observer of human behavior and a treasurer of life experiences. I for the longest time have believed in the liberating power of the pen and to satiate my desire for writing have written for various magazines and newspapers like The Daily post, The Search Report, The Tribune to name the least.
When I am not writing, I am a Final Year Law student at the Army Institute of Law, Mohali and am also a King’s College London Alumni along with being an International mediator who finds her heart in travelling.
