Winter Internship Program @ Village: Molki; Rajasthan

Project Duration- One week

  • 25th December: Arrival at the destination
  • 26th to 30th December: Working Days
  • 31st December: Departure from KOTA

 

Location:  Village Molki, District Baran, Rajasthan

Aim of the Project

  1. Encouraging a reading habit among the young and vibrant village children
  2. Forming a library management system in the village school
  3. Collecting folktales from the village elders
  4. Holding educational movie sessions with the children 

Methodology-

  • Division of all children into groups based on the level of reading ability
  • Making use of reading aloud, play-acting, formation of skits, competitions
  • Multi-media tools used with the younger children to capture their interest
  • Local games used to keep the sessions lively
  • Regular rallies by the interns and children to spread awareness and gather maximum attendance

READING

·        Reading aloud “Panchatantra Stories” with the youngest children

·        Completion of the book “Stories of Akbar and Birbal”
·        Sections of “The Cat in the Hat” completed ·        Chapters 7 and 8 of RBSE English Text book completed with Class 8 students
·        “Premchand ki Kahaniya” read aloud with the kids

 

Vocabulary Games

Word of the day Listing and learning any new word encountered during the stories
Team game of adding a new word to a list of 4 letter English words Locate the word in a dictionary

Competition topic: Reading 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize distributed in 3 groups

Village Rally

Sloganeering throughout the Village: to invite participation of maximum children to the program Participation of all the children as well as interns

Games/Song

Preparation and performance of “We shall overcome” by the children Kabbaddi, Kho Kho, etc used as ice breaker for the children to get comfortable with the interns

 

Skit/Drama

Akbar and Birbal Stories performed by the children in 3 groups Stories acted out by the interns to get the students interested
Annual Day performance of all skits for the school authorities

Akbar Birbal skit performed by intermediate group Premchand skit by middle group
“Akbar Birbal and the Stranger” performed by older children Birthday celebration for one of the children by the volunteers
